Countdowns and discount codes
A clear deadline and an easy code are two of the simplest ways to turn interest into an order. Ignite has blocks for both, and they work in most sections, without an app.
Both blocks are available in most sections with blocks, including Image banner, Ribbon banner, Image hotspots, Popup, Alert, Quick filter, Flexible columns and the product page.
Countdown timer
- In the theme editor, open a section and click Add block, then choose Countdown.
- Enter the End date as year-month-day, such as
2026-12-24. - Optionally, enter an End time in 24-hour format, such as
18:00. Without one, it counts down to midnight. - Choose what happens When the timer ends.
- Click Save.
A daily cut-off
Leave End date empty and set only End time, such as 14:00. The timer counts down to 2pm each day, then starts again for the next day. It’s ideal for “Order in the next 3 hours for same-day dispatch”. With both empty, it counts down to midnight every day.
Countdown settings

Discount code
The Discount code block shows a code with a copy button, so customers can copy it in one tap and paste it at checkout.
- In your Shopify admin, go to Discounts and create the discount code.
- In the theme editor, add a Discount code block and type the same code.
- Click Save.
A code for signed-in customers only
Turn on Only show to signed in users to reward customers for creating an account. Signed-out visitors see “Sign in for discount” on a peel-back sticker, with only the last few characters of the code showing. Clicking it takes them to log in. Once signed in, they see the full code.
Set the sticker’s colors with Peel background color and Peel text color.

How do I add a countdown timer to my Shopify store with Ignite?
Add a Countdown block to a section such as Image banner, Ribbon banner or the product page, and enter the End date as yyyy-mm-dd.
Can the countdown reset every day, for a delivery cut-off?
Yes. Leave End date empty and set End time, such as 14:00. It counts down to that time each day.
Which time zone does the countdown use?
Your store’s time zone, set in your Shopify admin under Settings > General.
Does the discount code block create the discount?
No. Create the code in your Shopify admin under Discounts first, then type the same code into the block.
