Launch checklist
Before you publish Ignite, or open your store to the public, run through this list. Each item takes a few minutes, and together they catch the things customers notice first.
Work through the list in the theme editor with your real products and content, not the demo content. Tick things off as you go.
1. Brand and look
- Upload your logo in the Header, and check its width on desktop and mobile.
- Add a favicon, the little icon in browser tabs, in Theme settings > Favicon. Use a simple square image.
- Set your color schemes, and check text is readable on every one.
- Choose your fonts. Two at most.
- Replace every demo image and every piece of placeholder text.
2. Navigation
- Set the main menu, and set up mega menus if you have a large catalog.
- Fill in the footer with your shipping, returns, privacy and terms pages, and a way to contact you.
- Add your social media links.
- Check the announcement bar message is current.
- Click every link in the header and footer. None should lead to a missing page.
3. Products and collections
- Open a few products and check the product page layout, images, variants and description.
- Assign the right templates, such as preorder or bulk-order, to the products that need them.
- Set up product cards: image shape, badges and quick add.
- Set up collection filters in Search & Discovery, and check them on a collection page.
- If you use metafields, fill them in for every product. See the Metafields reference.
4. Cart, shipping and checkout
- Check the free shipping bar minimums match your actual shipping rates.
- Link your terms and conditions in the cart if you need customers to accept them.
- Place a test order from start to finish, including the confirmation email.
5. Search engines and AI search
- Write a page title and description for your home page in Online Store > Preferences, and for key products and collections.
- Add alt text to product images.
- Build an FAQ page with FAQ schema turned on.
- Review the structured data options in SEO and AI search.
6. Test modes and timers
- Set every Popup and the Age verifier back to Normal mode.
- Check every countdown has a real end date. See Countdowns and discount codes.
- Check every discount code shown in the theme exists and works at checkout.
7. Mobile, speed and accessibility
- Browse the store on a real phone: the menu, a product, the cart and search.
- Test the home page, a collection and a product with Google PageSpeed Insights. See Theme speed.
- Try reaching checkout with just the keyboard. See Accessibility.
- Remove apps you don’t use.
8. Publish safely
- Keep your previous theme in your theme library, so you can switch back in one click.
- In Online Store > Themes, click Publish on Ignite.
- Visit your live store, not the preview, and check the home page, a product and the cart once more.
Common questions
